McPhee Elementary School, constructed in 1962 with an addition of a gymnasium and related amenities in 2000, was showing its age as a facility and was in need of upgrades to its Indoor Air Quality as well as several accessibility guidelines.  The SSH design included renovating the entire school to provide a new energy-efficient geo-thermal heat pump system to heat and cool the facility.  The electrical and lighting systems were upgraded to increase energy efficiency and meet current codes in compliance with the Capital Environs Commission.  Accessiblity upgrades at restrooms, classroom entrances, and the main entrance were included in the design for McPhee Elementary.  Also included in the design was a new entrance canopy to emphasize the main entrance to the school.
